Moton High School StrikeThe R.R. Moton High School Strike was a protest in which the students at Moton High School led. They decided to start this because their school was unequal compared to the white's school down the road. The students left in the middle of school hours to strike in order to get the rights they wanted. Barbara Jones was in charge of the strike. Edwilda Allen was one of Barbara Jones best friends and helped her in the strike. Her mother, who was a teacher in Farmville at the time, was fired due to her daughters actions in the protest. Edwilda Allen was an amazing person and she sacrificed a lot to fight for what she believed in ... please take a look at the rest of our website, that we have contributed to her, to see the impact that she and the other R.R. Moton High School students made.
